The Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Electronics Manufacturing Technician to join our Manufacturing Department. You will be responsible for assembling, soldering, testing, inspecting, and fault-finding electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies, requiring a practical understanding of electronic circuits, components, and test methods to ensure products meet the highest standards of quality and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Assemble and solder PCB assemblies, wiring looms, and connectors to IPC or equivalent workmanship standards.
Interpret and work confidently from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials.
Perform functional and diagnostic testing using electronic test equipment such as multimeters, bench power supplies, and oscilloscopes.
Carry out component-level fault diagnosis, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions during assembly and test.
Support engineering investigations by providing clear feedback on build issues, test failures, and recurring faults.
Ensure accurate completion of build and test records in line with quality and traceability requirements.
Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve product reliability, test coverage, and build efficiency.
About You
Proven experience in an electronics manufacturing, test, or repair environment.
Strong practical understanding of electronic components and circuits, including resistors, capacitors, semiconductors, and power regulation.
Ability to confidently interpret and troubleshoot from electrical schematics, not just follow assembly drawings.
Experience using electronic test equipment for verification and fault diagnosis.
Formal qualification in electronics (e.g. HNC/HND, NVQ Level 3, apprenticeship) or equivalent practical experience.
Methodical approach to fault finding with good documentation and communication skills.
Comfortable working to defined quality standards and controlled build procedures.
Desirable
Experience working to IPC standards or formal electronics workmanship certification.
Exposure to low-volume, high-reliability, or bespoke electronics manufacture.
Experience supporting engineering teams with build or test feedback.
