GTM, part of the Ulster group are the market leading manufacturer of specialist weaving machinery and ancillary equipment based at Washington NE38 8QA.

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented

Electronics Repair Engineer

to join a team in Washington, Tyne & Wear. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of electronic equipment and devices, ensuring optimal functionality and performance.

Key Responsibilities



Diagnose faults in electronic circuits, components, and systems Perform component-level repairs and replacements (e.g. capacitors, resistors, ICs) Use tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and soldering equipment Carry out testing and calibration of repaired equipment Maintain accurate records of repairs, test results, and part usage Provide technical support and advice to colleagues and customers when needed Ensure compliance with health and safety standards Commission new PCBs and getting systems verified and tested before being installed on new machines. (Training will be provided for this)

Experience & Qualifications Required



Proven experience in electronics repair (consumer electronics, industrial equipment, or similar) Strong understanding of analogue and digital circuitry Ability to read and interpret schematic circuit diagrams and technical manuals Proficient with diagnostic and testing tools (oscilloscope, logic analyser, and multi-meter).
Ability to replace SMD components down to 0603 without issue.

Ability to replace through-hole components

Understanding of passive and active components, and how they work

Attention to detail and methodical approach to troubleshooting

Relevant qualifications in Electronics Engineering or a related field (HND, Degree, or equivalent)

Desirable Skills



STM32 Firmware Development - C/C++ (Hardware-abstraction layer)

C# WPF/HMI Software development

Understanding of RS422/RS485

PCB Design & schematic capture (KiCAD)

Preparation of files for manufacturing

Previous work in a repair centre or similar environment
