The

Employability & Careers Manager

will play a pivotal roleto lead the College's strategic approach to employability, careers guidance, and employer engagement. The post holder will manage the Employability & Careers team, develop partnerships with employers, and oversee initiatives that enhance students' career readiness, work placement opportunities, and long-term employability outcomes.

As a vital member of our Support team, you will take on a dynamic and varied role where no two days are the same! As our Employability & Careers Manager, you will be at the heart of creating and nurturing strong relationships with local businesses and voluntary organisations. You will spot and develop exciting new placement opportunities that inspire and challenge our students. You will collaborate with academic staff and students to match placements that align perfectly with individual aspirations and manage the behind-the-scenes magic, ensuring smooth and efficient placement administration. You will also support students in developing their employability skills and knowledge of job search and application by working with our Careers Academies, which could involve organising and delivering small scale events, workshops or 1:1 meeting.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:



Strategic Leadership & Management



Develop, implement, and oversee the College's employability and careers strategy in line with institutional objectives Lead, motivate, and manage the Employability & Careers team to deliver outstanding support and outcomes for students Set and monitor departmental targets, KPIs, and progression data (including the B3 matrix) to continuously improve performance and impact

Employer Engagement & Partnerships



Build, strengthen, and maintain strategic partnerships with employers, industry bodies, and professional networks both regionally and nationally Identify and develop new opportunities for student placements, internships, and graduate employment pathways Represent the College at external events, networking opportunities, and employer forums

Student Employability & Career Development



Oversee the design and delivery of employability and career development programmes, workshops, and one-to-one guidance sessions Ensure students have access to high-quality careers advice, job search support, and placement opportunities tailored to their aspirations and academic focus

Events & Initiatives



Manage the planning and delivery of career fairs, employer engagement events, guest speaker sessions, and industry panels Collaborate with the academic team to embed employability into the curriculum

Compliance & Quality Assurance



Ensure all employability and placement activities meet safeguarding, compliance, and quality standards Monitor data and prepare reports to demonstrate outcomes and inform future strategic planning

Essential Skills & Experience:



Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience overseeing teams or projects Experience developing and managing employability initiatives or work placement programmes Experience in employability, careers guidance, recruitment, or student services Excellent communication and networking skills Strong organisational and event-planning abilities Understanding of the local job market and employer needs Passion for supporting young people and adult learners into meaningful employment Proficiency with MS Office, online job portals, and digital communication tools

Desirable:



Level 3 & above qualification in Business & Management Previous experience in Higher or further education or working with diverse learners Knowledge of apprenticeship and traineeship frameworks

Working Hours & Flexibility:
