The RCVS

At the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, we aim to improve animal health and welfare by advancing the ethical, professional, and clinical standards of the veterinary professions is at the heart of all our work. We also strive to advance veterinary standards with programmes of work around mental health, leadership, environmental sustainability, diversity, and innovation.

We set the standards for and monitor the quality of veterinary education; we hold Registers of those vets and veterinary nurses who are qualified to practice; we set professional standards for vets and veterinary nurses, and we help practices raise their standards through our Practice Standards Scheme.

Background

This is a new temporary post to drive and support internal communications and team engagement for all colleagues across the RCVS and RCVS Knowledge teams.

In recent years, our teams have expanded in number and evolved from being largely office-based and recruited mainly from the southeast, to hybrid and remote working and recruited from all around the UK. This brings challenges in effective internal communications and maintaining team engagement amongst a dispersed workforce. Also, the current way that new information, updated policies or general news is communicated is not user friendly and doesn't provide an engaging way to connect with employees.

Whilst we currently use an employee reward platform to showcase and facilitate our wide range of employee benefits, we now wish to expand the purpose and function of this platform by piloting its use for the purpose of employee engagement, before deciding what any longer-term permanent options may be.

Job Purpose

As Employee Engagement Officer, your main responsibility will be to drive employee engagement through the development, launch and management of a new employee engagement platform. Prepare regular reports and insights for senior colleagues, highlighting key trends and performance indicators Develop promotional campaigns and communication materials to raise awareness of the intranet and its benefits Act as a champion for the intranet platform, promoting its value and encouraging participation across the RCVS and RCVS Knowledge Work with colleagues in the People team to identify key information for updating and sharing
