EMPLOYMENT LAW SOLICITOR
The Role
We are expanding our practice with the launch of a dedicated Employment Law department - This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious employment law solicitor to drive forward a dynamic new team.
As part of our employment law department, you will work alongside a team of skilled lawyers to provide expert legal advice and representation to our clients. Your work will involve protecting employee rights, challenging unfair practices and ensuring that each client receives the highest standard of legal expertise, advise, advocacy and client care.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide expert advice and legal representation in all areas of employment law
Taking client instructions and advising clients accordingly
Advise clients in relation to their rights and next steps to progress the matter. Ensuring that clients are regularly updated
Prepare legal documents including statements of case, witness evidence, settlement agreements, and correspondence
Conduct legal research and draft clear, concise legal arguments
Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, and tribunal proceedings and undertake advocacy where appropriate and required
Supervise and support junior solicitors, trainees, and paralegals as appropriate
Manage a varied caseload while maintaining high standards of accuracy and professionalism
Ensure compliance with regulatory and legal aid (where applicable) requirements
Maintaining a professional and supportive relationship with clients throughout the legal process.
Accurately recording time and billing using LEAP case management system.
What we're Looking For
Qualification as a Solicitor in England and Wales (3+ years PQE minimum)
Able to demonstrate experience of handling LAA-funded matters and meeting billing targets.
Strong understanding of employment law
Excellent research and writing skills
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities
Proficiency in legal research databases and case management software
Excellent communication abilities with a strong focus on client satisfaction
A genuine passion for employment rights and social justice
Experience supervising junior staff is desirable but not essential
Excellent analytical skills and ability to use own initiative
Excellent IT Skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and document management skills
PUBLIC LAW SUPERVISING SOLICITOR
The Role
Bishop Lloyd and Jacksons Solicitors is expanding its practice with the launch of a dedicated Public Law and Discrimination department - an exciting opportunity for an ambitious solicitor to drive forward this dynamic new team
We are looking for an experienced Public Law Solicitor (3+ years PQE) to join our team on a part-time basis (2-3 days per week, negotiable).
Key Responsibilities
Provide expert advice on public law matters, including judicial review, human rights, and regulatory challenges
Lead on high-profile and complex public law cases, from initial client consultation to litigation
Represent clients in court, tribunals, and public inquiries, including advocacy where appropriate
Draft high-quality legal documents, including pleadings, witness statements, and legal opinions
Engage with public bodies, government departments, and third-sector organisations
Supervise and quality-check junior solicitors'/paralegals' work, ensuring high standards and compliance with Legal Aid/Costs requirements Stay abreast of legal developments and contribute to case strategy
Build relationships with NGOs, charities, and community groups to identify strategic litigation opportunities
Support the firm's growth by identifying new practice areas or client opportunities
Ensure all case files meet professional conduct and regulatory standards
What we're Looking For
Qualified solicitor with 3+ years PQE in public law
Strong expertise in Administrative law and judicial reviews
Excellent written and oral advocacy skills including the ability to draft detailed grounds, witness statements, and legal submissions
Ability to manage a diverse caseload independently with a focus on progressing matters, compliance with deadlines, regular reviews and good communications with clients and third parties, including opposing parties
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities
Proficiency in legal research databases and case management software
Excellent communication abilities with a strong focus on client satisfaction
Experience in supervising and supporting junior staff (desirable)
Excellent IT Skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and documents management skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Hours & Location (Both Roles)
Part-time role, 2-3 Days.
1 Year Fixed Term Contract
Hybrid working model (office/remote split available)
Salary Range: 40,000 - 55,000 (pro rata)
