Job Description


Mencap\'s Employ Me programme provides supported employment programmes for people with a learning disability. Employ Me Skills and Training Programme is a funded project that provides support for young people with a learning disability, and autism to gain the skills, knowledge and experience that will help to meet their work goals.

We have an opportunity for a Caseworker to join our Employ Me team to deliver our Skills and Training programme in the London Borough of Barnet. This role is full time (37.5 hours per week) contracted until the end of July 2024.

We are looking for individuals who can work on their own initiative, have good communication skills across all levels, interpersonal skills and be approachable to work in partnership with Mencap\'s existing supported employment teams in Barnet.

The Caseworker will be accountable for the progression of a caseload of individuals ensuring programme KPI\'s are achieved. They will develop packages of support with individuals based on initial assessments, support needs and work goals. They will be responsible for ensuring that individuals develop the skills to be able to enter paid employment.

They will be responsible for finding employment opportunities by carrying out effective Employer Engagement activity and managing the progression and support of a caseload of individuals prior to entering employment, as well as within the workplace.

You will need the ability to work on your own initiative. Good interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills as well as the ability to work effectively with participants, employers, and other professionals is essential. The ability to maintain accurate and up to date records using IT based systems is also required.

It is essential that all candidates offered an interview for this role will need to provide evidence of their GCSE English and Math (or equivalent) at interview stage.
