Job Summary
NexEndo Healthcare is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Endoscopy nurse to join our team at the Peterborough Community Endoscopy Unit. We will also consider new entrants who want to train in an endoscopy setting. As part of a specialist and patient centred service, the Endoscopy nurse will work within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality care, and play a key role in supporting efficient, safe, and responsive endoscopy services in a community setting.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Clinical Practice:
Support the Endoscopy unit manager in delivery of a safe, high quality patient centred endoscopy service.
Undertake pre-assessment, monitor and assist with the endoscopic procedure, post procedure monitoring, and discharge of patients following best practice and local policy.
Ensure all clinical documentation is completed clearly and promptly using electronic/paper systems.
Service Delivery & Patient Care:
Deliver a consistently high standard of care that reflects NexEndo Healthcare's commitment to safety, dignity, and patient satisfaction.
Support the triage and contribute to pathway improvements.
Promote adherence to JAG (Joint Advisory Group) accreditation standards and local CQC compliance.
Governance and Quality:
Participate in clinical audits, incident reviews, peer review, and quality improvement initiatives.
Maintain accurate procedural logs and support data collection for key performance indicators (KPIs).
Take part in local endoscopy user groups and multidisciplinary meetings as required. Education and Leadership:
Provide mentorship and support to junior staff and trainees within the endoscopy team.
Participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to team learning sessions.
Assist with service innovation, pathway development, and community engagement efforts.
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
Registered Nurse with active NMC registration.
Desirable:
Experience in an Endoscopy setting
Basic competence/qualification in Endoscopy Care/ Decontamination.
Non-medical prescribing qualification.
Familiarity with community-based or independent healthcare settings.
Evidence of recent CPD in endoscopic techniques and patient care.
Skills and Attributes:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and MDTs.
High level of clinical judgement and confidence in autonomous decision-making.
Committed to compassionate, person-centred care in a community setting.
Flexible, organised, and able to adapt in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Confident in the use of endoscopy reporting systems and electronic patient records.
The post holder must adhere to NexEndo Healthcare's policies on infection control, safeguarding, and patient confidentiality.
Participation in internal training, governance meetings, and annual competency review is mandatory.
