Are you passionate about helping people unlock their potential through learning and employment? We're looking for a dedicated
Engagement and Support Officer
to join our Employment and Skills team and support Barnsley residents on their journey to personal and professional success.
As part of our inclusive and resident-focused service, you'll play a vital role in actively promoting local Employment and Skills related programmes to Barnsley residents, facilitating increased interest, enquiry, engagement and participation in learning opportunities and employment support. You'll inform individuals and identify the learning and employability pathways available to them so that they can access the support they need to thrive.

Your role in our journey
You'll work directly with residents across Barnsley in promoting the local Employment and Skills offer at community-based events, venues and through relevant digital media to raise awareness of and interest in the opportunities available to move forward in learning, work and life and connect them with the most suitable learning and/or employment support. Whether it's helping someone to think about their long- or short-term goals, or take their first step in a new direction, your work will make a real difference. You will be required to transport and set up display & marketing resources.
You'll also collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure a seamless and supportive experience for every resident you engage with. From maintaining accurate records to celebrating learning and work outcomes, you'll be a key part of our mission to improve people's lives across the borough.
What we're looking for
You will have a relevant level 2 qualification and hold or be willing to work towards a L2 qualification in Information, Advice & Guidance.
You will also bring to the role a commitment to work flexibly, and an appetite for engaging with hard-to-reach residents of Barnsley
We're seeking someone who:
Has a confident approach and experience of communicating with a range of audiences, particularly members of the public.
Can work independently and without supervision
Can build strong relationships with residents and stakeholders alike.
Can travel as part of their work to multiple venues and events across Barnsley
Is proactive, empathetic, and passionate about lifelong learning.
Has IT skills including the use of Microsoft applications
