At Fold Hill Foods, we're looking for an Engineering Manager who leads with people first. This role isn't just about keeping machines running - its about creating a culture where safety comes naturally, food quality is never compromised, and every team member feels part of something important.
You'll work closely with our maintenance Manager, SHE Team, and site leadership to set the tone for how engineering supports the business. You'll focus on building strong relationships, driving a proactive safety and compliance culture, and ensuring engineering is a trusted, collaborative partner to production.
Area of Responsibility
Lead by example, setting high standards for safety, food hygiene and team work.
Build a respectful, inclusive engineering culture where every team member is valued and listened to.
Recognise and celebrate great work, encouraging a positive, can - do approach across shifts.
Ensure engineering is seen as a partner, not just a service, by developing strong relationships with operations, SHE and quality team.
Champion a "zero harm" mindset, making health and safety the first priority in every decision.
Ensure engineering work meets all H&S and food safety requirements (BRC, Tesco, retailer codes).
Keep risk assessments, permits to work, and contractor controls up-to -date and embedded into daily work.
Work with SHE to investigate incidents, share learnings and implements improvements.
Support the Maintenance Manager in moving the team from reactive fixes to proactive asset care.
Lead improvement projects that make life safer, easier and more efficient for operators and engineers alike.
Encourage problem - solving at all levels, from operators raising small improvements to engineers trialling new solutions.
Skills & Experience
Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing environment (food/FMCG preferred).
Strong track record in creating positive team cultures.
Solid understanding of Health & Safety and food safety compliance.
Ability to influence and collaborate across departments.
Skilled in prioritising people, safety and quality alongside production needs.
Personal supervision (of technical teams, contractors or 3rd parties).
Minimum 5 years in a technical field, preferably food manufacturing or consumer goods industry (as Project Engineer or Project Manager, Maintenance or Engineering Manager, or equivalent positions).
Desirable
Experience with TPM, Lean or other continuous improvement methodologies.
Knowledge of automated and semi-automated production equipment.
Hand-on engineering background (Mechanical or electrical)
Preparation of investment budgets and acquisition of technical equipment (for production and / or industrial services).
