60,320 - 75,400 per annum (depending on experience)

The opportunity




We have an excellent opportunity for an Engineering Manager to join our team at Caterpillar in Larne, Northern Ireland. In this role you will develop concept container solutions for prime and standby power applications across the globe.


As the Engineering Manager, you will develop concept designs, associated costs and drawings and present these alongside our commercial teams directly to end customers. In addition, you will develop and maintain cost development tools to capture latest production processes and technologies.


Working directly with our commercial teams, dealership network, consulting engineering firms and end customers, you will develop solutions that exceed their needs.

What you will do:



Manage a team of 4-6 engineers ensuring successful concept design for customer projects, within the datacentre, industrial and commercial segments. Monitor and continuously improve product and team performance, quality and cost-effectiveness of designs and deliverables. Provide leadership to create and maintain processes used to develop concept designs. Close working with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure concept designs are suitable for production environments. Must demonstrate exceptional communication skills with both technical and commercial acumen able to translate direct customer requirements into concept product designs that exceed customer expectations.

Customer/Market Focus - Level Extensive Experience:

Recommends new products based on changing customer needs. Responds proactively to market and competitive shifts so as to maintain advantage. Delivers superior customer value consistently and within targets. Coaches others to improve focus on the customer.

Planning: Tactical, Strategic - Level Extensive Experience:

Ensures attention to the detail and dependencies of existing departmental-level plans. Plans for allocation of resources in line with unit goals, technical and business objectives. Ensures the planning process is integrated with the overall business plan.

Additional information:



There is a requirement of 5 days in the office a week. There is up to 25% travel requirement for this role.
