The Opportunity




We are seeking an accomplished

Engineering Manager

to oversee the design, development, and delivery of power electronic converter products. This is a leadership position with responsibility for managing cross-functional engineering teams including power electronics, software, CAD, and test engineers.


You will manage multiple concurrent projects, ensuring on-time delivery, technical excellence, and adherence to cost, quality, and schedule commitments. Acting as the primary technical interface with customers and stakeholders, you will play a pivotal role in translating complex requirements into effective engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities



Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team. Oversee the full lifecycle of power electronics products for renewable and industrial markets. Manage project plans, budgets, risk registers and resource allocation. Interface directly with customers to define requirements and drive technical solutions. Champion internal quality assurance and compliance with relevant industry standards. Establish formal processes for design reviews, documentation, and validation. Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and rigorous checking. Collaborate with manufacturing, procurement, and commercial teams for seamless product transition to production.

Skills & Experience



Proven experience in the design of power electronic converters (DC-DC, AC-DC, DC-AC). Strong project and team management capabilities. Proficiency with project management tools (e.g. MS Project). Solid foundation in power semiconductor devices, control theory and converter topologies. Hands-on experience with design, simulation and analysis tools like MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, or LTspice. Familiar with EMC, safety compliance, and thermal/mechanical integration. Experience in customer-facing roles and delivering tailored engineering solutions. Industry experience in renewable energy, rail, automotive, or industrial power systems is highly desirable.

Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (essential). Master's or PhD in Power Electronics (desirable). Chartered Engineer status or working towards (desirable). Membership of IET, IEEE or similar (advantageous).
