Each day is different and the Engineering Manager will need not only give leadership to the Engineering function, but also due to the key role this position plays within Granta, to be flexible, and willing to help your fellow team members as well as working to identify opportunities to continually improve the way we do things.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team in the development and optimisation of innovative systems and products. The successful candidate will oversee multiple projects, ensuring technical excellence and adherence to industry standards. This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence the direction of our engineering initiatives while working in a dynamic and collaborative environment. The ideal applicant will possess strong leadership capabilities, extensive technical knowledge, and proficiency in a range of engineering tools and software. Responsible for installation, maintenance and improvement of production lines, managing contractors and ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to, this role has full budgetary responsibility for the department. Implement and manage continuous improvement principals by highlighting deficiencies.
With the support of the Operations Director, the successful candidate will be part of the overall Production Team and collaborate with the Shift and Warehouse Managers as part of the daily Production meeting where all of the Production issues are discussed and addressed.

The right character fit for this role is someone who has Engineering (including Electrical diagnostic and programming) along with strong organisational skills and Leadership.
You should be strongly self-motivated, adaptable, an effective problem solver and willing to get stuck in understanding the system and working closely with the team to get the best output.
Key Duties
Lead and manage the engineering function specialising in systems engineering, mechanical, electrical, and software disciplines.
Implement and manage PPM (preventative maintenance management system)
Conduct root cause analysis to troubleshoot system issues, optimise performance, and implement corrective actions.
Ensure minimum machinery downtime, and implement process and quality improvements
Coordinate with Production and Warehouse teams on machinery optimisation from concept through fabrication to deployment.
Ensure compliance with GD&T standards and maintain quality assurance throughout project phases.
Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to meet organisational objectives efficiently.
Foster continuous improvement through research into new technologies such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and advanced manufacturing techniques.
Requirements
Proven experience in systems engineering, product development, or construction management within an engineering environment.
Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, system design processes, and fabrication techniques.
Ability to interpret schematics and technical drawings accurately; familiarity with GD&T standards is essential.
Experience with microcontroller programming (PLC), debugging processes, and system maintenance.
Excellent analytical skills with a focus on root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies.
Mechanical knowledge combined with experience in system optimisation and product development processes.
Effective leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while fostering a collaborative team environment.
Relevant qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Systems Engineering are preferred; professional certifications are advantageous.
