The Vacancy
The Trainer & Skills Coach role is required to manage and develop a comprehensive and innovative teaching and learning experience in a variety of practical and theoretical skills within relevant apprenticeship standards, to include but not limited to Nuclear Operative & Nuclear Health Physics Monitor. The role will require you to also ensure apprentices receive support, guidance and encouragement to succeed in their apprenticeship programme.


As well as developing technical knowledge and skills you will be instrumental in developing softer skills which are embedded within apprenticeships. This will require you to provide regular constructive feedback to learners and record their impact on their own learning on a regular basis.


You will also be involved in the development of new curriculum to ensure that it is focussed on industry practice and the learner journey.

Strong background and experience of engineering (Nuclear based, but multi-skilled is preferable) Ideally have experience of the following areas: Nuclear Plant Systems & Equipment / Monitoring Nuclear Operations / Decommissioning / Waste Management Nuclear Safety / Regulations Nuclear Monitoring / Decontamination An understanding of assessment methods and techniques An understanding of coaching methods An understanding of engineering Apprenticeship Standards to ideally include Level 2 Nuclear Operative & Nuclear Health Physics Monitor An understanding of apprenticeship funding rules An understanding of End Point Assessment An understanding of Safeguarding and the Prevent Duty Ideally have experience of using e-portfolios (ideally Smart Assessor) Ideally have experience of using learner management systems, such as Pro Monitor.

Qualifications:



Essential:



Level 3 Engineering qualification Recognised teaching qualification or willing to gain this. Recognised Assessor qualification, such as A1 or Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement.

Desirable:



Functional Skills Level 2 / GCSE's or equivalent in Maths and English grade C or above. Recognised Quality Assurance qualification, such as V1 or Level 4 Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice Recognised coaching qualification Higher Education qualification (level 4 or above) in an Engineering discipline Digital training qualifications relevant to education. For example, Microsoft Learn badges
