South Caernarfon Creameries Ltd is Wales' leading dairy farmer owned business processing milk into quality cheese products has a vacancy for the following role:
Responsible for the effective planning and coordinating of site preventative and reactive maintenance activities to ensure optimal production efficiency and compliance with safety and quality standards.
Maintenance Planning: Manage and plan the execution of both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities.
Scheduling: Coordinate maintenance activities and issue work orders using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS). This includes planning weekend and out-of-hours work for the engineering team where necessary.
Contractor Management: Assist the Engineering Team to help organise and review the work of external contractors, ensuring work meets the required standards and all relevant permit to works and associated documents (RAMS etc.) are managed and controlled.
Compliance: Ensure all maintenance meets Health & Safety, PSSR (Pressure Systems Safety Regulations), LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations), and PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations) regulations.
Continuous Improvement: Work with the Engineering Team to identifying areas where efficiency improvements could be applied to make the Maintenance function more effective. Utilize data analysis, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and root cause analysis (RCA) to spot trends, identify areas for improvement, and enhance the effectiveness and reliability of the maintenance function and site OEE.
Documentation and Inventory: Work closely with Stores and the Engineering Team to define appropriate stock levels given cost, space and order lead times. Maintain comprehensive maintenance records, logs, and equipment histories within the CMMS.
Collaboration: Work closely with the Engineering Team and all other Operations teams to provide a timely and effective service to operations.
Communication: Communicate daily both within function and cross-functionally to ensure planned maintenance and engineering breakdowns are dealt with effectively.
Customer/3rd Party Audits: Support and contribute to all customer/third.
party visits and audits and support relevant teams to improve audit standards.
Internal Audits: Work closely with support functions (Technical and Production) to ensure actions from audits are kept to a minimum and communicate all outstanding issues.
Working Pattern
39 hour working week Monday to Friday.
Qualifications
Qualification in relevant Engineering discipline
Relevant experience in the same/similar role
Preferable qualification:
Level 2-3 Food Hygiene (or equivalent)
HACCP Level 2-3 (or equivalent)
IOSH Certificate qualified (or equivalent)
Relevant experience in the same/similar role
Skills, knowledge and personal attributes
Engineering Knowledge: A strong understanding of either mechanical or electrical engineering disciplines with relevant demonstrable skills and experience.
Soft Skills: Strong communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills are crucial for working collaboratively across different departments in a fast-paced environment.
Technical Knowledge: Proficiency with CMMS systems and Microsoft Office is essential. A strong understanding of maintenance strategies and reliability principles is desirable.
FMCG Experience: Previous experience of working in a food manufacturing environment or similar fast-paced environment preferred.
