What Are We Looking For?


We are building a bank of talented, flexible, and passionate

Assistant or Associate Professors

who can deliver short-term teaching on an as-needed basis across our academic programmes. These casual roles will help us ensure continuity and excellence in teaching during staff leave, course expansion, or other short-term needs.

We are interested in individuals with subject expertise in any of the following areas (and more):

Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronic Engineering Mechatronics and Robotics Software Engineering and Computing Materials and Manufacturing Design, Product Development, and CAD Sustainability, Systems Thinking, and Engineering for Good Engineering Mathematics and Applied Science Communications, Professional Skills, or Innovation Other disciplines aligned with NMITE's interdisciplinary approach

Key Responsibilities


As a casual academic at NMITE, you will:

Deliver engaging, hands-on teaching in your area of expertise, often in 8-week intensive modules Facilitate project-based learning grounded in real-world problems and industry needs Provide academic guidance, support, and feedback to students Collaborate with NMITE's academic teams to ensure seamless delivery of learning experiences Contribute to continuous improvement of teaching through feedback and reflection Embrace and embody NMITE's student-centred, innovative educational model

What We're Looking For


Essential



Strong interest in progressive, applied education Subject expertise relevant to NMITE's teaching portfolio Experience of teaching or training in a higher education or professional setting Ability to facilitate active, student-led learning Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and student wellbeing

Desirable



Experience in project-based or challenge-led education Familiarity with modern assessment and feedback practices A PhD or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field Industry background and ability to bring practice into the classroom Registration with a professional body (e.g. CEng, IEng)
