Job Description

Main Purpose of the Position



Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, the Engineering Co-ordinator is accountable for the reliability of the equipment located in their section of the plant. Ensuring PPM's are carried out on time and in full, contributing to the efficiency of the area and the plant overall. Reacting when necessary to the plants needs and working as part of a larger engineering days team to ensure the plant meets it goals.



Key Responsibilities:



A direct link between production and engineering for their area, devising targeted actions daily for their team. Ensuring these actions are closed out effectively, and in a timely manner maintaining plant output and efficiency.

Drive health and safety throughout their team, promoting a 'safety first' culture throughout the plant and leading by example.

Investigate and solve engineering problems on a day to day and long-term basis.

Supervise Engineers specialising within the responsibility area. Responsible for their personal development and training with appraisals every 12 months.

Work with other departments, such as quality to ensure the equipment is performing to the highest level and fully satisfying out customers requirements.

Organise and supervise maintenance periods consisting of, pre-maintenance planning, ordering parts, labour requirements, planning outside contractors. Maintenance supervision and post maintenance debriefing.

Work with the days maintenance team leader to ensure all aspects of maintenance are timed in the most effective manner and in line with OEM recommendations. Contributing to the overall TPM strategy on the plant.

Issue recommended spares lists for production machinery, to be held in a central stores system.

Provide technical support to the production department.

Implement commission and develop projects to improve machinery, equipment and systems.

Manage contractors, assess Rams and ensure AMP, HSE and engineering standards are upheld.

Organise and supervise trials, liaise with specialists and customers, evaluate results, and prepare written recommendations to reduce material costs and improve efficiencies.

Prepare and run technical courses following project implements.

Prepare and supply engineering drawings.

Keep files and technical records to give technical advice service to the factory.

Qualifications



HNC/HND Time served apprenticeship or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering



Languages



English written and spoken



Computer Skills/literacy



Microsoft office / SAP
