Engineering Services Officer

\xc2\xa327,991 - \xc2\xa331,065 and \xc2\xa331,065 to \xc2\xa346,559 dependent on experience

37 hours - Hybrid working 3 days in office, 2 from home.

About the role

Reporting to the Principal Engineer, the Engineering Services Officer will:

  • Lead on the street name and numbering service delivered by the council.
  • Manage the inspection, installation and maintenance of borough street furniture and project manage the works.
  • Review planning applications ensuring appropriate flood risk management measures are incorporated on proposed development and responding to consultations in a timely manner.
  • Liaise and advise on all aspects of engineering, flood risk and drainage with other departments, residents, Councillors and Risk Management Authorities.
  • Assist in the feasibility, design, and supervision of civil engineering projects. This includes works to be carried out within the section, other departments of the Council and external partners as may be required.
  • Assist with the programming and management of the Borough\'s land drainage maintenance and capital works programmes.
  • Assist in the monitoring and delivery of Health and Safety duties in relations to projects and maintenance works. Ensuring compliance with Council\'s CDM policy and other associated regulations.
  • Assist with the enforcement of land drainage law and the Borough\'s land drainage byelaws.
  • Assist in developing and implementing the Borough\'s flooding contingency plans and liaising with the Environment Agency and other relevant bodies on these matters.

We are looking for candidates with experience in flood risk management and/or street naming and numbering. With guidance where needed, you\'ll manage your own caseload working in a supportive team environment and contribute towards the progressive Engineering Service which provides:
  • Land drainage maintenance
  • Expert advice on flood risk management and land drainage
  • Street naming and numbering service
  • Borough street furniture maintenance
  • Borough street furniture. and support Engineering Services providing expert advice in land drainage and flood risk management.
Given the high flood risk that Runnymede\'s residents face, we are looking for a qualified applicant (BSc/MSc or MEng/BEng) who would like to develop their career or recent graduates who are keen to put their studies into practice. Previous experience of working in a local authority environment would be beneficial.
