Engineering Stock Controller/TPM System Operator



Department:

Reports to:

Operations Director/Maintenance Manager.

Job Purpose:



The Engineering Stock Controller is responsible for managing the storage, control and distribution of all engineering materials, parts and tools. The role includes ensuring inventory levels are maintained, orders are processed in a timely manner and materials are tracked accurately. A major aspect of the Stock Controller is to manage and report spending trends and to obtain cost effective solutions for engineering components.

The role supports the engineering team in meeting project deadlines and operational needs.

Key Responsibilities:



Inventory Management:

Maintain accurate records of stock and manage the inventory in the engineering stores. Monitor and reorder materials, parts and tools to ensure stock levels are sufficient. Conduct regular stock audits and reconcile discrepancies in inventory.

TPM System Manager:

To manage the TPM/PPM System. To create and issue scheduled PPMs. To "Close Off" completed works orders. To continue developing the system to include new equipment.

Ordering and Procurement:

Process requisitions from engineers and other departments for materials and supplies. Liaise with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and products. Negotiate with suppliers for cost-effective pricing and timely delivery.

Material Handling:

Ensure proper storage of materials to prevent damage or loss. Organize the engineering store to maximize efficiency and ensure easy access to required items. Manage the receipt, inspection and quality check of incoming materials.

Stock Control and Reporting:

Track and document all material movements, ensuring that stock is correctly recorded. Prepare regular stock reports for management and ensure compliance with inventory control policies. Assist in tracking the usage of materials and tools on various projects and maintenance tasks.

Health & Safety Compliance:

Ensure that all materials are stored and handled in compliance with health and safety regulations. Keep the stores area clean, organized and free of hazards. Ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards in material handling.

Support to Engineering Team:

Issue materials and equipment to the engineering team, ensuring that all items are documented. Provide technical assistance in identifying the right materials or tools for specific engineering tasks.

Documentation and Record Keeping:

Maintain accurate records of all transactions, including purchases, returns and inventory changes. Update and maintain databases related to stock, tools and equipment.

Cost Control:

Monitor and report on stock usage to avoid over-purchasing or waste. Help identify cost-saving opportunities within the stores function.

Qualifications & Skills:



Experience:

Previous experience in an engineering stores, inventory control or procurement role is desirable. Familiarity with engineering parts, materials and tools is advantageous.

Technical Skills:

Strong knowledge of inventory management software and systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel for reporting and data management.

Soft Skills:

Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Excellent communication skills for interacting with suppliers and the engineering team. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

Personal Attributes:



A proactive approach to problem-solving and inventory management. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent time management skills. High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Working Conditions:



Full-time role with standard working hours. The position may require occasional overtime or shift work, depending on project deadlines and operational needs. The role involves working in a warehouse or stores environment within a fast-paced environment.

Pay: 24,000.00-26,000.00 per year
