We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Supervisor to join our night-shift team.
This is a full-time position, working 4-days per week. The successful candidate will play an important role in coordinating and managing our fleet of buses when they run-in from service in the evening and getting them ready for service the next day.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure that all buses on their return to site are fuelled / charged, their exterior washed, their interiors cleaned, parked in the correct place for the next day's operation and allocated to the appropriate running board, taking into account route branding.
Manage the cleaning and support team, allocating their work regularly and maintaining records of the work completed in order to ensure that the following shifts supervisor / manager is clearly informed of what work has been carried out and what tasks remain outstanding.
Support the Engineering managers in ensuring that departmental key performance indicators are met and exceeded.
Carry out regular spot checks and audits on company vehicles to monitor cleaning standards.
To resource plan, prioritise and allocate work to the evening/night cleaning team taking into consideration operational requirements.
Liaise with the Management Team (Engineering Managers) where applicable in order to plan the booking in of vehicles to be cleaned for the following day.
Monitor the efficiency of the cleaning function, continually working towards improving the quality of work carried out by the support team. To recommend and action any changes necessary.
Conduct regular quality checks.
Manage and actively promote health and safety awareness and compliance in all aspects of fleet and plant activity. Ensure that all personnel on site conduct themselves in a safe and responsible manner, including non-NCT personnel.
Maintain current cleaning stock levels through liaison with the Stores and Purchasing Manager.
Ensure that all cleaning records are kept up to date, so as can be used in the preparation of management reporting.
Ensure the maintenance, cleanliness and up keep of staff areas, premises and equipment.
Maintain sufficient staffing levels whilst monitoring and recording staff sickness and holidays in line with Company procedures.
Liaise with Engineering Technicians and Team Leaders to prioritise rectification activities, facilitating subsequent efficient vehicle allocation. When required, allocate buses to duties in an efficient manner avoiding any 'late out' occurrences due to blocked vehicles or 'no bus available' during the morning runout.
Liaise with the Operations Team, Garage Supervisors etc to address any operational concerns, maintaining good inter-departmental relations at all times.
Park vehicles to an agreed plan to support vehicle allocation, ensuring that all vehicles needing work or other attention are parked in the correct location.
Carry out the cleaning, fuelling / charging and parking of buses as and when required
This is not a complete statement of all the duties and responsibilities of this post. The post holder may be required to carry out other duties as directed by their manager however the responsibility level of any other duties should not exceed those outlined above.
Skills and Experience
Excellent communication skills with proven people management skills to motivate staff to meet and exceed key performance targets
Previous supervisory experience including supervising a multi-disciplined team would be advantageous.
Ability to demonstrate both drive and determination towards continually improving performance targets and cleaning standards.
A clean driving licence is essential, (PCV Licence would be advantageous).
Have a strong work ethic and understand the need to be reliable, diligent and a good timekeeper.
Team player who enjoys taking responsibility and ownership of delivering high standards.
Hours of Work:
Full time, 37 hours per week, excluding an unpaid meal break, working 4 days out of 7 (Sunday to Saturday), covering night shifts up until 6:30am. The role will be expected to cover other shifts as and when required.
Rates of Pay and Benefits:
38,605 per annum
25 days per year plus bank holidays (pro rata if you work less than 5 days per week)
