you will need to be someone who thrives in a fast-paced, production environment. This is not a desk-only role -- you'll be on the factory floor, working closely with engineers, contractors, and the production team to deliver projects that enhance performance, efficiency, and reliability.
You'll be involved in everything from new equipment installations and line upgrades to process improvement and automation integration.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engineering projects from concept to commissioning (including timelines, budgets, and resource planning).
Install, test, and commission new machinery, including high-speed ovens, conveyors, robotic arms, and packaging lines.
Work closely with production and maintenance teams to resolve technical issues and drive operational improvements.
Carry out root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve machine reliability and uptime.
Oversee contractors and suppliers during installation or commissioning activities.
Ensure projects comply with health & safety regulations, food hygiene standards, and internal quality systems.
Create/update technical documentation including P&IDs, layouts, and equipment manuals.
Support automation and controls integration, working with PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, with a focus on lean manufacturing and energy efficiency.

Requirements:
HNC/HND in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering .
Minimum 2-4 years in a hands-on engineering role within fast-paced food manufacturing, FMCG, or similar.
Strong understanding of food production machinery, automation systems, Food safety and Health & Safety standards.
Practical experience with tools, fabrication, and equipment assembly.
Familiarity with PLCs (Siemens, Mitsubishi), pneumatics, and invertors & motor control systems.
Proficient in AutoCAD or SolidWorks and MS Office tools.
Excellent communication, report generation and problem-solving skills.
Flexibility to work around production schedules -- including evenings or weekends.
Desirable:
Previous experience in a high-speed bakery or chilled food environment.
Working knowledge of Lean principles, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Autonomous Maintenance principals.
18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
