We have an exciting opportunity for a well organised and self-motivated English and Community Lecturer on a part time fixed term basis until January 2025.

Main Duties of the Role:

We are looking for a highly motivational and inspirational lecturer to join our English team working 18 hours per week. This is an exciting opportunity to join one of County Durham\xe2\x80\x99s leading Further Education providers to help learners on their journey to develop their skills in English.

There are opportunities for an enthusiastic lecturer to deliver on our GCSE English and Functional Skills courses. We are looking for someone who can help our learners make positive progress on their learning journey in English. Your role will be to deliver an ambitious curriculum to all by delivering engaging lessons to a diverse group of learners across our three sites within County Durham. If you would love to pass on your passion for English and help people develop essential English skills, then East Durham College is the college for you. This post will also include delivery within our Alternative 14-16 provision.

You may be required to teach English across our three engaging and varied campuses as well as delivering in our community venues, you will be paid mileage for any travel between the sites during the teaching day and we are open to discussing which campus would work best for you depending on the requirements of the timetable.

You will be involved in delivery of different English qualifications to a variety of learners which may include:
  • 14-16 provision in our in house Engage school & Home Educators Year 10 and Year 11
  • Mainstream vocational learners from a broad range of curriculum areas
  • Adults returning to education.
  • Foundation learners with SEND and Additional Needs
Essential Requirement:
  • Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy.
  • A teaching qualification Cert Ed/PGCE/DTLLS.
  • A degree in a relevant subject area.
