The postholder will be an experienced teacher who is able to lead and manage a small team of English colleagues across our Salford and Bolton provision to promote the further development of English in its widest sense. You will provide the operational day to day leadership for all aspects of the work of the English department in its widest sense, as determined and under the guidance by the Head of Education as line manager. Together with English team, you will be responsible for all aspects of our English curriculum offer for all students, including English Accreditation. You will be able to contribute positively to the mentoring of colleagues, and you will work collaboratively and sensitively to share and promote the further development of excellent practice. You will be emotionally intelligent and professionally curious, and you will seek to engage effectively with a range of internal and external professional development opportunities and activities, whether as a participant or as a deliverer for those sessions. Teachers at JEP make the education of their YPs their first concern, through quality first teaching and are accountable for achieving the highest possible standards in our JEP curriculum drivers: attendance, engagement, behaviour choices and academic progress.

Specific Leadership Responsibilities of the Head of Faculty for English



The postholder will lead and manage the provision for English, including English Accreditation, for YPs at JEP Assist the Senior Leadership Team to provide leadership for all aspects of the English curriculum offer for YPs across JEP Lead and manage An English team and other staff involved in the teaching of English in its widest sense across JEP Display a well-developed knowledge and understanding of the English curriculum and related pedagogy, including how learning progresses within and across the curriculum, supported by highly effective assessment. Play a lead role in the creation, implementation and oversight of the day-to-day policies, procedures and practices in English with the aim of improving rates of progress and raising achievement for students across JEP Lead the further development and refinement of a robust and engaging curriculum for English in its widest sense for all YPs, which is a well-sequenced and evidence-based curriculum that builds on developing students' ability to recall knowledge and apply their understanding in a variety of contexts, appropriate to students' SEND, prior attainment and age Lead a team towards the further refinement of robust and appropriate formative and summative assessment in English that is an integral component of the curriculum implementation, building from Year 7 and creating an accurate picture of each individual student's progress throughout their time with us. This would include English, Functional Skills English through to GCSE, for all YPs from 11-18. Provide internal scrutiny, quality assurance and moderation to ensure the highest levels of English attainment across JEP Together with the Head of Education evaluate the impact of English teaching across all ages to maintain effective delivery Develop effective professional development programmes for improving the teaching of specialist English teachers and non-specialist teachers, teaching assistants Be responsible for all matters surrounding English examinations, including, appropriate NCFE examination entries within English for all YPs at JEP Work alongside the Head of Education in access arrangements for examinations in English.

Ability to contribute to the development of the Math curriculum Ability to lead on the quality assurance and monitoring of YP work, assessment, YP progress, and target setting within Math Experience of effective departmental or faculty staff management including appropriate distribution and delegation of leadership responsibilities Ability to lead, empower and sustain highly effective teams Ability to create and implement and sustain Math intent and implementation policy and practice through consultation with all stakeholders. Ability to lead, motivate, challenge and inspire staff and YPs Ability to create, develop, communicate and realise an ambitious vision Ability to identify, challenge and improve underperformance Ability to initiate and successfully implement change including demonstrably raising achievement Knowledge of Math accreditation from NCFE to GCSE qualifications
