We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic
GCSE English Lecturer
to join our English and maths team on a
maternity cover
contract. You will be delivering high quality teaching to students studying a range of vocational courses alongside their English qualifications.
Many of our students arrive at college without a Grade 4 in English, often having found the subject challenging at school. Our aim is to help them build confidence, develop essential communication skills, and achieve the qualifications they need to move on to further study, apprenticeships, or employment.
Our English and maths team is made up of dedicated, skilled practitioners who are passionate about changing how young people experience these core subjects. By bringing lessons to life and making learning relevant to students' vocational interests, we support them to close gaps in their knowledge and succeed.
You'll benefit from working in a collaborative team that shares resources and supports one another. Teaching in college differs from school there are no lunch duties, tutor groups, or daily pastoral responsibilities. Specialist support teams handle these aspects, allowing you to focus on your teaching.
The majority of our delivery is
GCSE English
, although some students follow the
Functional Skills
route depending on their course and previous results. Learners typically join us with a GCSE grade between 1 and 3, so the ability to assess starting points and tailor your teaching to meet individual needs is vital.
Not yet a teacher?
While possessing a teaching qualification is advantageous, the college offers training opportunities and we are committed to supporting you on your path to becoming a qualified teacher, providing the necessary assistance along the way.
