We are an Islamic Secondary school that specialises in Hifdh and Islamiyah but we also have developed a strong National Curriculum.
We are currently recruiting for a new history teacher to join our outstanding team for the next school year. You must have a solid understanding of the national curriculum standards and have experience closing the achievement gap, and you must also develop engaging and innovative lessons that allow our students to grow academically, socially and emotionally.
You will be someone who incorporates technology and hands-on learning experiences into the classroom with enthusiasm. The ideal candidate also believes in collaboration with other colleagues and promotes understanding and communication in a diverse learning and cultural environment.
Purpose:
Create schemes of work with lesson plans and learning activities for students based on national, local and school standards in history education and research and knowledge of developmental behaviours.
Develop and deliver an engaging KS3/KS4 R.S/History curriculum.
Differentiate lessons when needed to give all students access to the curriculum regardless of disability, instructional level, English proficiency or level of interest in the subject.
Evaluate student performance on tasks established by the standards using different methods such as observation, performance-based tasks or other standard test practices.
Mark work according to school policy, giving appropriate feedback including at parent consultations and maintaining records of pupils' progress and development
Maintain a safe, orderly and supportive classroom by modelling expected behaviour and standards, promoting positive interactions and quickly addressing behaviours that are not in line with the school discipline plan. Our school places great emphasis on character building and Islamic etiquette and all staff are expected to promote this.
Undertake pastoral duties, such as taking on the role of form tutor, and supporting pupils on an individual basis through academic or personal difficulties
Promoting knowledge and understanding of the great contribution Muslim scholars have made to Western Civilisation to develop in pupils a pride in their cultural and spiritual heritage.
Communicate with parents regarding student progress, potential and behaviour periodically through phone or electronic means and at parent and teacher conferences.
Improve skills and knowledge in teaching by regularly taking classes, attending workshops and discovering new methods of delivering exciting content to students.
Participate in and organising extracurricular activities, such as outings, social activities and sporting events
Undergo regular observations and participating in regular in-service training (INSET) as part of continuing professional development (CPD)

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in History / Humanities / English / R.E or related fields
Qualified Teacher Status in Secondary History / Humanities / English / R.E
We can support teacher training in collaboration with Coventry University - gaining a PGCE with minimal cost as well as ECTs.
