About the role:



We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator to manage and optimise our cloud databases, ensuring seamless data flow and robust performance.


Your work will directly impact the team's race performance by guaranteeing clean data flow and minimising system downtimes, ultimately giving our drivers and strategists the data they need to succeed.

What you'll be doing:



Cloud Database Management: Oversee cloud database systems and data ingestion processes, particularly the use of DataBricks. Kafka Streaming and Replication: Implement and manage Kafka streaming and replication solutions. Django Administration: Administer Django applications with SQL backends. SQL Mirroring/Always On: Utilize SQL mirroring and Always On technologies for data replication and high availability. Query Optimisation: Optimize query execution plans and indexing techniques for improved performance. Backups and Recovery: Manage backups and recovery processes to ensure data integrity and availability. Data Modelling: Design and architect data models and table structures. Authentication and Authorisation: Handle authentication and authorisation, including logins, service accounts, and schema ownership. Scripting: Develop scripts using PowerShell, Bash, and Python for automation and management tasks. SQL Agent Job Management: Manage SQL Agent jobs for scheduled tasks and maintenance. Documentation and Mentoring: Maintain comprehensive documentation and mentor developers to enhance their skills.

Requirements



Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, OCI, or Google Cloud). A minimum of 3 years proven experience in database administration and management. Strong understanding of cloud database systems and data ingestion. Proficiency in SQL, Python, PowerShell, and Bash scripting. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills and a willingness to mentor and train team members. Good problem-solving skills and stress tolerance in a high-risk environment. Good communication and team skills. Flexibility and ability to learn new technologies in a dynamic environment.
Knowledge of MongoDB and Atlas. Experience with Kafka, Grafana (Prometheus), Redis, MongoDB, Docker/containerisation. Familiarity with Azure DB. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
