RWE Generation\'s UK Environment Team cover a diverse range of environmental issues, supporting our current portfolio of efficient gas and biomass fired power stations as well as driving the delivery of consents and permits to help deliver RWE\'s decarbonisation plans. RWE has a clear ambition to be carbon neutral by 2040 and we are actively developing projects to decarbonise our generation fleet through the deployment of technologies such as carbon capture and storage, hydrogen conversion and battery storage. RWE is also actively developing green hydrogen production projects that will help other sectors decarbonise. These investments mean it is a great time to join our business to help us achieve our goals.

We are seeking to expand our team, and we are looking for an environmental analyst with scientific and analytical skills to provide expertise, analysis and modelling on the environmental issues relevant for our generation business. As well as direct support to our sites and development projects, the role also provides the potential to be involved in broader sector activities. Part of our role is also to identify the risk and opportunities presented by future regulation and we work with trade associations, environmental regulators and government to respond to these challenges. This work is supported through the expertise that we provide to a programme of research, funded by major UK electricity producers, into the environmental impacts of electricity production, and the role would provide the opportunity to undertake studies in support of this.

As a member of the team, there would also be the opportunity to work on other aspects of the team\'s work depending in your interests and development aspirations. As well as undertaking analysis and modelling projects your role as a team member could include providing expert support to deliver compliance with environmental regulation, managing environmental risks and opportunities for our portfolio, driving improvements in environmental performance or helping to deliver consents and permits.

Your responsibilities:

As an Environmental Analyst your responsibilities could include:

Providing assessments and analysis of environmental impacts to support the management of environmental risks. This could include emissions, air quality, habitats, water resources, water quality and climate change adaptation.

Undertaking modelling assessments or managing the delivery of these by external consultants as appropriate.

Providing support and advice to the business on current and future environmental requirements.

Devising & undertaking projects to help progress company and sector thinking on developing regulatory issues.

About you:

We are interested in hearing from candidates with the following knowledge and skills:

A degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline.

A broad understanding of industrial environmental issues & some experience in applying models or analytical techniques to assess impacts or risks. This experience could have been in the context of gaining regulatory approvals for projects or in assessing broader environmental issues.

Strong organisation, co-ordination and stakeholder management skills combined with excellent team-working and communication skills.

Experience or knowledge of the power sector would be an advantage but is not essential; the role would provide the ability to develop your knowledge.

Your skills and experience could have been gained in the electricity sector, or equally from other industrial sectors, research, consultancy or regulatory bodies.

Occasional travel to various locations in the UK, and potentially overseas, may be required.
