The Bloomsbury Royalties Department is responsible for preparing royalty statements and making advance and royalty payments to Bloomsbury\'s authors around the world. We are now recruiting for a UK Non-Consumer Royalties Analyst to join this busy team

The Role

The Royalties Analyst - International role partners with consumer/non-consumer teams within Bloomsbury US and India to ensure that advances and royalties are paid accurately and on time; month-end journals are accurately posted; author and agent queries are dealt with professionally and that management are provided with high quality analysis of royalty data from our overseas territories to assist in decision making.

Whilst prior publishing royalties experience is desirable, this role is also open to numerate candidates with strong excel knowledge, good communication skills and who can demonstrate a desire to progress in a royalties role within publishing.

Responsibilities

  • Extracting royalty and data from contracts to set up in royalty system.
  • Setting up of supplier details on accounting system
  • Timely and accurate payment of author advances
  • Monthly review of and clearing of items from royalty exception reports
  • Preparation and posting of month end royalty journals as well as assisting with the analysis of royalties variances, unearned balances, etc.
  • Preparing for semi-annual royalty runs to ensure payments to authors are accurate, including in relation to tax documentation held.
  • Dealing with and resolving royalty queries from authors and editors in a professional and timely manner
  • Assist with integration of new acquisitions into the royalty system
  • Ad-hoc tasks as and when required
Knowledge, skills and experience
  • Royalties experience - ideally in trade/academic publishing
  • Strong excel skills - pivots, v-look-ups, etc.
  • Experience of data processing using Microsoft Access/Excel
  • Numeracy, speed and accuracy together with good communication and organisational skills
  • Familiarity with royalty and/or accounting systems
  • Understanding of double entry book-keeping and general accounting desirable

The role is a full-time/permanent position

The role is based at our London office 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP on a hybrid working pattern of 2 days office based / 3 days home based (or fully office based if preferred).
