Job Description

Spill Response Wales is a leading regional response, remediation and restoration consultant/contractor operating primarily across Wales. We are looking to employ an individual to work with our team in Mid Wales. We may consider applications from more experienced individuals looking to be based in Wales.

The role be based in our Llandovery Office and will primarily support our work in Environmental Claims, dealing with land-based oil spills and other incidents. The work will comprise a mix of office based and site work and a requires an adaptable approach to assist with urgent response situations.

Working within a small team, the individual will be required to assist in the response to pollution incidents, remediation of oil spills, investigation and remediation of contaminated land.

Employed on a full-time basis there will also be the need to dedicate any hours to provide support to the business to ensure all tasks are completed; this will require the post holder to satisfy overtime and on-call requirements which may include the need to work and stay away from home overnight.

Key Duties and Responsibilities will include:



Assisting with Spill Response Works; Undertaking Phase I and Phase II Site Investigations; Soil and Groundwater Sampling and Soil Logging; Management of Soil and Groundwater Sampling and Analyses; Preparation of Investigation Reports and Remediation Scope of Works Assistance in the Preparation of Health and Safety Documentation; Supervision of Remediation Works; Maintenance and Management of Response and Monitoring Equipment, including Instrumentation; Any other task assigned by the Management Team for which the post holder is qualified and experienced to undertake.

Role Requirements include:



We will generally expect candidates to be qualified to degree level in an environment/land related subject; however, candidates from a more practical background with experience dealing with oil spills for insurance companies may also be considered.

The successful candidate will have good literacy and reporting skills, a `hands on' approach and a flexible attitude to work and possess the enthusiasm and drive to deliver the requirements of this role.

A degree of computer literacy is required, including proficiency in the use of Microsoft applications.

Applicants must be self-motivated, adaptable and demonstrate excellent communication, organisational skills, and attention to detail.

Applicants should possess excellent interpersonal skills and confidence when dealing with all stakeholders including colleagues, site staff, contractors, and householders in person and over the telephone/email, and a highly professional manner.

The duties of the post will include field sampling may involve working in all weather conditions and can be physically demanding.

The job will require willingness to travel across Wales; a full UK/EC driving licence is essential. Proof of the right to work in the UK will be required, and the postholder may be required to undertake a DBS check to satisfy client requirements

The ability to speak Welsh is advantageous but not a requirement of the position.
