Based at Ty Elai, Williamstown, the Council's Public Health, Protection and Community Services Division is committed to continuous improvement and to providing the best possible service to the residents of the County Borough.
Environmental Protection & Housing Standards Team
An opportunity has arisen for an Environmental Health Officer to join the Environmental Protection and Housing Standards Team on a full-time basis. The successful applicant will join a multi-disciplinary team responsible for discharging the Council's statutory duties in relation to environmental protection, public health and housing standards.
The Environmental Protection and Housing Standards Team seeks to use its legal powers and technical expertise in a wider context to support the achievements of the Council's key objectives, particularly to deliver improvement to the health and wellbeing of the community. This requires close co-operation within the team, with the community and with partners inside and outside the Authority. The post of Environmental Health Officer will be required to carry out a range of duties to contribute to the objectives of the team. This will include dealing with statutory nuisance complaints, Planning/Licensing consultations, as well as various public health issues.
The successful candidate must possess a degree in Environmental Health or equivalent degree recognised by the CIEH. EHORB registered or CIEH registered Environmental Health Practitioner is desirable criteria. If not registered, the post holder will be required to undertake the appropriate pathway to become a registered EHP accredited by the CIEH within 18 months of employment. Assistance towards professional registration is available.
