ESOL Tutor



Location: Bristol



Contract: Fixed term contract to 31st March 2026



Salary: 25,500 - 28,500 FTE per annum



Hours: 22.5 hours per week



Community charity Groundwork South has a unique opportunity for an experienced ESOL Tutor to work on the 'Talking Together' project which supports refugees and migrants living in Bristol and North Somerset to integrate into life in the UK by increasing their confidence, language skills and social connections, and helping them to be better equipped to use English for vital services and employment/education pathways.

Summary of role:

We are looking for a part-time ESOL Tutor to deliver conversational English Language sessions, to improve participants' ability to communicate with others and access services and employment opportunities. This will include face to face sessions in Bristol and North Somerset, as well as some online classes. The role will be centred around the delivery of:

Conversational group sessions on learner-defined topics to help participants improve their English language skills (in person and online)*
'Learning by doing' creative, cooking, outdoor learning or forest school sessions.*
Day trips to cultural sites for participants to build social bonds and practise spoken English.*
1:1 support calls tailored to participants' ESOL needs identified at sign-up or during sessions.*
Project end signposting resource for ongoing support*

The successful candidate will have a qualification or equivalent experience of teaching ESOL or literacy in group and one-to-one settings, with the ability to motivate and inspire people facing multiple barriers to integration through the delivery of quality language sessions.

You will be able to work effectively independently and with referral organisations, manage a varied workload against deadlines, keep accurate records, monitor and evaluate progress against targets, and complete funders' paperwork in accordance with GDPR.
