We deliver high-quality apprenticeship programmes across South Wales and are looking for a talented Essential Skills Tutor to join our growing team.
About the Role
As an
Essential Skills Tutor,
you will deliver high-quality training in literacy, numeracy, and digital literacy. You will assess learners against criteria set by the relevant awarding body as part of apprenticeship programmes. Your support will include one-to-one sessions, group delivery, and workplace visits -- ensuring apprentices gain the skills they need to succeed.
What You'll Do
Deliver engaging teaching and assessment for Essential Skills qualifications, through group workshops and one-to-one sessions, ensuring learners achieve Essential Skills qualifications and meet Framework requirements.
Support apprentices with their literacy, numeracy, and digital skills development.
Work closely with Training Advisors to identify learner needs.
Conduct visits to employer sites for learning delivery and reviews.
Manage a caseload of apprentices and track their progress.
Maintain accurate learning records and ensure compliance with quality standards.
Support learners with additional learning needs (ALN) where required.
Register, conduct, and invigilate controlled tasks in line with awarding body requirements.
Manage teaching and assessment tasks, including preparation, marking, and participation in standardisation events.
Support planning, monitoring, and achievement of performance targets, to ensure a timely completion and accuracy of learner documentation.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE or equivalent)
Relevant sector-specific qualification
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (you must be willing to travel)
Minimum 2 years' experience in teaching or assessment
Willingness to undergo a DBS check and EWC registration (cost covered by the company).
Desirable:
Certificate of Higher Education
Welsh speaker (preferred)
Understanding of Prevent and safeguarding duties
Experience of delivering Essential Skills Qualifications
Experience of Work Based Learning and Award Body practices
