Job Description


Responsibilities

  • To be responsible for monitoring communal areas of our estates to ensure they are clear and comply with best practice and statutory requirements in the area of Health and Safety and Fire Safety.
  • To lead a schedule of estates inspections, working with repairs and estates services contractors to maintain these areas.
  • To ensure all estate management issues arising from FRA inspections are managed and resolved within target.
  • To support residents with repair reporting and resolution, by forming close working relationships with H&F repairs call-centre and contractors.
  • To provide a response service for estate-based emergencies, including leaks and power outages.
  • Build safe communities with proactive and consistent service delivery.
  • Working with the Housing Officer team, H&S team, Adult Social Care and Fire Service to identify hoarders and residents who may present an increased fire risk. To maintain a register of these residents, working with colleagues and other agencies to negotiate and encourage tenants with complex needs to manage the risk, taking enforcement action where needed.
  • Organise, co-ordinate and carry out estate inspections and work with tenant and resident associations to achieve and maintain excellent management standards, identifying opportunities to improve estates and the provision of services, to deliver a cleaner, greener and safer environment to improve quality of life.
  • Processing applications for landlord consent for alterations, working with the Compliance Team to resolve unauthorised alterations, carrying out home visits where needed.
Requirements
  • Experience of lone-working, from remote locations, or an understanding of what this entails. Able to demonstrate being self-motivated, to work and deliver within this context.
  • A good understanding of fire safety principles relating to housing.
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation and procedures, and an understanding of its practical application in the workplace and in relation to residential settings.
  • Understanding of individual risk, from person-centred perspective, particularly in relation to fire safety.
  • Able to demonstrate good administrative and organisational skills, especially in the context record keeping and case management.
Contract
  • Initial 3 month contract
  • Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
  • PAYE via Umbrella
  • The role involves lots of daily walking, including up and down stairs, visiting estates (and some street properties) across the North of the borough to carry out fire safety checks and estate inspection.
