OVERVIEW



An exceptional opportunity has arisen in a stunning lakeside location. We are seeking a kind, proactive and highly organised individual to manage the day-to-day running of Calgarth Park, an established independent living estate. This is a varied and rewarding role where you can make a real difference and become part of a warm, welcoming resident community.

ABOUT CALGARTH



Located just outside Windermere, with breathtaking lake and mountain views, Calgarth Park is a beautifully converted Georgian country house providing rental accommodation for the over 55s. As a registered charity, Calgarth Park offers residents a safe, comfortable and supportive environment, delivering high-quality services at an affordable price. The estate also benefits from a range of communal facilities, including home-cooked meals, a well-stocked library and a greenhouse where residents can grow their own vegetables.

ROLE



Resident Support



Welcome and engage with residents and visitors to create a friendly community. Assist residents and their families with queries and concerns. Respond promptly to resident emergency calls. Guide new residents through facilities and services. Organise social activities and events. Maintain the welcome pack, notice boards, and website with up-to-date information.

Teamwork & Management



Work closely with Rowan (managing agent) and the Calgarth board of directors. Lead and support a team of three, setting objectives and reviewing performance. Manage staff rotas, holidays, cover, and training. Ensure the house and gardens are maintained to a high standard. Oversee the quality of weekday lunches served in the canteen. Coordinate with the letting agent to market apartments and secure tenants.

Administration & Compliance



Manage office expenses, supplies, and petty cash efficiently. Maintain accurate resident and staff records. Coordinate guest room bookings. Monitor utilities and optimise heating schedules. Carry out maintenance and safety tasks, including fire drills and equipment checks. Support health & safety compliance and report issues promptly.

30,000 - 35,000 annual salary pro-rata. 2,000 annual performance based bonus. IDEAL CANDIDATE



Attributes



Kind, friendly, positive and able to work with older people. Proactive self-starter, who takes ownership and is able to use own initiative and action tasks without needing instruction. Assertive and able to manage others. Organised and efficient in managing time. Excellent listening and verbal communication skills.

Skills



Basic knowledge of health & safety. Computer / MS Office literate and able to manage data. First aid training beneficial but not essential.

Experience/education



Total of at least ten year's work experience would be beneficial, but is not essential. Minimum of three year's work experience in a customer service-related role. Minimum of three year's work experience in an administration related role. Minimum of grade 4 / C in GCSE English Literature or Language and a grade 4 / C in Mathematics.

Pay: 30,000.00-35,000.00 per year
