Support the Estates Supervisor/Manager in ensuring the efficient day-to-day operation of the campus. This includes overseeing maintenance activities, ensuring statutory compliance checks are completed on schedule, and supervising the cleaning team to maintain high standards in line with agreed specifications.
Responsibility:
Lead in the investigation and diagnosis of reported faults and implementing first fix solutions using internal resources prior to outsourcing/ escalating complicated repairs to external contractors.
Lead in the maintenance and repairs of the college site, buildings, and grounds to the highest of standards including minor plumbing, joinery, electrical, and building projects, decoration, clearing drains, changing locks, connecting white goods etc.
Monitoring performance and time keeping of the Caretaker and Cleaners, and where necessary escalating concerns to the Estates Supervisor.
Responsible for the daily allocation of work to cleaners in response to business demands and be the first point of contact and arrange cover for absent colleagues.
To actively contribute to ensuring customer expectations are met to a high standard by responding to calls on the Estates Helpdesk and feeding back to end users in a timely manner.
Essential Experience:
A construction trade background/technical skills, knowledge, and demonstrable experience in general maintenance such as carpentry, plumbing etc., and be able to perform general maintenance to a high quality.
Demonstrable previous experience of leading and motivating teams, taking charge of emergency situations and demonstrate the ability to implement and adhere to standards and procedures, in particular in relation to Health & Safety.
Previous experience in managing/assisting with cleaning chemicals stock control, maintenance and repairs of cleaning equipment.
Experience of operating fire alarm control and intruder alarm panels including deputising for managers in liaising with external agencies and emergency services.
Experience of supervising maintenance contractors and outside agencies on site including checking risk assessments, permits to work, safe systems of work, receiving installations reports and signing off their works.
Desirable Experience:
Level 3 qualification in a construction trade or BICs cleaning qualification or equivalent.
First aid qualification/skills.
Fully qualified driver with access to a car and able to travel between campuses.
