About the Company

Our client is a building main contractor delivering refurbishment and new build projects for public-sector clients, including leisure, education, healthcare and local authority schemes. Typical project values range from around 100k up to 10m. The business is growing, with a strong pipeline of repeat work and public-sector frameworks.

The Role

As Estimating Manager, you will lead the estimating function and manage a team of around six Estimators. You will own the end-to-end tender process, work closely with pre-construction and operations teams, and play a key role in securing profitable work and shaping how the department operates.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead, support and develop a team of Estimators Manage end-to-end tender preparation and cost planning Review drawings and specifications, identifying risks and opportunities Coordinate subcontractor and supplier enquiries and analyse returns Prepare take-offs, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), prelims and full tender build-ups Lead internal tender reviews / adjudications with senior management Attend client meetings (pre- and post-tender) and support value engineering and clarifications Handover successful tenders clearly and accurately to delivery teams

About You:

Estimating Manager or Senior Estimator with experience at a building main contractor Strong track record on public-sector projects and/or frameworks Confident pricing both refurbishment and new build schemes Comfortable leading a team and mentoring junior Estimators Strong commercial, numerical and communication skills Able to manage multiple live tenders and deadlines while maintaining accuracy
