Overview


We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Civil Engineering Estimator to join our team. The Estimator will play a crucial role in the preparation of accurate cost estimates for projects, ensuring that all aspects of the project are considered. This position requires a strong understanding of cost control measures and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organised, and possess a keen eye for detail.

Responsibilities



Prepare detailed and competitive tender prices for civil engineering projects, including roads, drainage, earthworks, and utilities. Review project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to develop comprehensive estimates. Conduct site visits and liaise with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather accurate pricing information. Analyze costs, risks, and opportunities to optimize project proposals. Keep abreast of market trends, materials, and labor costs specific to the North West region. Assist in supporting project teams during procurement and contract negotiations. Maintain accurate records of estimates and submissions for future reference and audits. Ensure compliance with company policies, relevant legislation, and industry standards.Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects by analysing drawings, specifications, and other relevant documents. Collaborate with project managers and engineers to gather necessary information for accurate estimations. Conduct thorough market research to determine pricing trends and material costs. Evaluate subcontractor bids and proposals, ensuring compliance with project requirements. Monitor project budgets and provide recommendations for cost control measures throughout the project lifecycle. Maintain comprehensive records of estimates, including calculations and methodologies used. Assist in the preparation of tender submissions and proposals as required. Participate in project meetings to discuss estimates and any potential adjustments needed.

Skills



Proven experience as a Civil Engineering Estimator or similar role in the civil engineering sector. Strong understanding of civil engineering practices, materials, and construction processes.Strong analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail. Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Proficient in cost control techniques and methodologies. Ability to communicate effectively with team members, clients, and subcontractors. Familiarity with construction processes, materials, and industry standards is advantageous. Proficient in using estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Relevant degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred. Valid CSCS card is advantageous.
