Cardiff (Hybrid & Office-Based, minimum 3 days in office)

Hours:

Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:00 (37.5 hours per week)

The Role



We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute

Senior Estimator

to support our rapid growth into new markets. This role is critical in ensuring the accurate estimation of costs for energy efficiency projects, delivering competitive and profitable pricing strategies.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of domestic energy efficiency, excellent analytical skills, and a detail-oriented approach. As a key member of this newly formed team, you will have the opportunity to shape processes, influence direction, and help define how we deliver innovation in the energy retrofit sector.

Key Responsibilities



Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates, covering materials, labour, and equipment. Assess project specifications, drawings, and documentation to determine scope and potential cost implications. Source and evaluate quotes to ensure competitive pricing and compliance with project requirements. Prepare comprehensive proposals, including cost breakdowns, timelines, and resource allocations. Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies. Collaborate with the Operational Board to review estimates before approval; monitor and adjust project costs throughout the lifecycle. Work closely with project management, procurement, and sales teams to ensure seamless estimate delivery. Stay informed on industry trends, material costs, and labour rates to maintain accurate and competitive estimates. Refine estimating processes and methodologies to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Skills & Experience Required



Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field. Proven experience as an estimator in the energy efficiency, construction, or renewable energy sectors. Strong knowledge of domestic energy efficiency solutions, relevant technologies, and regulatory frameworks. Proficiency in estimation software and tools such as MS Excel and industry-specific platforms. Excellent analytical and numerical skills, with a meticulous attention to detail. Strong organisational and time management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and industry standards related to energy efficiency. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience



Professional certification in estimating (e.g., AACE, RICS). Experience with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera). Experience in Local Authority and Social Housing markets. Knowledge of sustainable building practices and energy efficiency measures.
