Marley Contract Services (MCS) is a roofing contractor operating in Scotland, specialising in pitched roofing applications including Solar PV panels. MCS has a workforce of up to 80 with a small office team of around 7 who are based at our office in Bishopbriggs, Glasgow.

If you\'re a skilled Estimator with a technical mindset and a passion for driving value, we\'d love you to join our team in Bishopbriggs. You\'ll be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of our project estimates and tracking them against actual figures. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and a commercial mindset to drive profitability. You\'ll work closely with internal departments, collaborate with suppliers, and maintain cost control processes. Ideally you\'ll have experience in the construction industry, strong analytical capabilities, and a keen eye for detail.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Estimation: Gather information from customers and suppliers to complete estimates for pitched
  • Cost Analysis: Estimate costs for entire projects and present them to management based on market knowledge. Prepare detailed cost reports for monthly department meetings and weekly commercial meetings.
  • Database Management: Input cost data into the company database and evaluate differences between estimated and actual costs.
  • Customer Collaboration: Work closely with the Contracts team to prepare proposals, manage the tender process, and assist with work variation pricing.
  • Relationship Building: Build and maintain customer and supplier relationships. Liaise with suppliers to obtain material costs for quotations and maintain cost control processes.
  • Efficiency Improvement: Continually challenge processes to maximize efficiency and cost reduction through CI initiatives. Stay updated on industry changes and market conditions.
  • Networking: Attend industry events and engage in networking opportunities.
  • Negotiation: Use strong negotiation skills to improve profitability by controlling costs and managing expiring quotations.
  • Lead Generation: Use lead-based systems to expand our customer base and sector split. Manage workload to ensure tenders are submitted on time.
  • Customer Support: Assist customers with queries or requests related to our quotations, offering opportunities to be more competitive.
What will you need to bring with you?
  • Ideally a degree or other higher qualification (preferably within Construction, Maths, Accounting, Quantity Surveying, or Civil Engineering).
  • Ideally, experience working as an Estimator within the Construction sector.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Ability to understand technical drawings and requirements, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Organised, self-motivated, methodical, and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of contractual terms and conditions relating to Construction Projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish long-term client relationships to support future business growth.
