Job Description

We are seeking an experienced

Estimator

to join a high-performing project controls team supporting a nationally significant nuclear infrastructure programme. This role is a unique opportunity to be part of one of the UK's largest and most complex low-carbon projects, contributing to the future of clean energy.
Working within a regulated environment, you will be responsible for producing and validating detailed estimates at all stages of the project lifecycle, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and alignment with governance processes.


Key Responsibilities



Develop detailed and accurate capital cost estimates in line with project scope and technical requirements Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work breakdown structures to derive estimating inputs Work collaboratively with planning, risk, procurement, and engineering teams Apply nuclear-specific norms, productivity factors, and escalation rates Support benchmarking, contingency assessment, and cost risk analysis exercises Ensure estimates align with governance frameworks and client assurance processes Assist with market testing, tender comparisons, and commercial evaluations Maintain estimate databases, tools, and documentation in accordance with programme standards Present estimate deliverables in structured formats for internal and external stakeholders

What You'll Bring



Proven experience in estimating within highly regulated sectors (nuclear, defence, infrastructure, etc.) Understanding of nuclear-specific estimating methodologies and safety case impacts Proficiency in estimating software and tools (e.g. Excel, Cleopatra, PRISM, or similar) Familiarity with WBS development, cost codes, and quantity-based estimating Ability to interpret and work with engineering documents and contractual frameworks Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or similar (or equivalent experience)
