We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join the Projects Division of a major geotechnical and civil engineering company. Reporting to the Projects Division Estimating Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in securing new projects by preparing accurate, competitive cost estimates and tender presentations. This role will suit a skilled estimator with a background in geotechnical engineering solutions who is also open to expanding into civil engineering pricing.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and assess incoming enquiries, prioritising business-relevant tender opportunities.
Develop and execute winning bid strategies in collaboration with the technical, operations, and supply chain teams.
Prepare and present tender proposals to clients, engaging in negotiations and maintaining client relationships from enquiry to contract award.
Partner with the Project Division Business Development Manager to identify future clients and major project opportunities.
Participate in client engagement activities, including professional development presentations, industry exhibitions, and events.
Key Tasks:
Conduct cost studies and prepare internal reviews for governance approval.
Engage in ongoing communication with clients and stakeholders, ensuring smooth project handover to the operations team.
Support the Business Development Manager in identifying market opportunities and potential clients.
Qualifications and Skills:
Degree in civil engineering, ideally with a geotechnical focus, and professional qualifications are preferred.
Strong understanding of the UK geotechnical and civil engineering industry.
Excellent interpersonal skills for engaging with both internal teams and external clients.
Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, with attention to detail and a high standard of accuracy.
Proficient in IT applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and Salesforce; knowledge of Primavera P6 and Candy is advantageous.
Valid UK driving licence.
Working Location:
Based primarily in our Camberley office with a hybrid working model (minimum three days per week in-office).
Travel as required to client sites, project locations, and regional offices.
