Job Overview

This role sits within the pre-construction team and is responsible for supporting estimating, technical design, and bid development across complex, multi-discipline projects. The role is weighted towards IT infrastructure, structured cabling, low-voltage electrical, and wireless systems, with exposure to wider technologies as projects require.

You will work closely with senior estimators, designers, and commercial stakeholders, contributing to solution development, pricing, and bid submissions. The role offers structured support, clear accountability, and the opportunity to progress toward greater autonomy and responsibility over time.

Duties

Prepare cost estimates and support tender submissions for technically complex projects Assist in defining scope, assumptions, exclusions, and commercial considerations under senior guidance Develop technical and commercial proposal content, including pricing models and supporting documentation Support the development and review of technical designs and surveys, working with internal engineers and external survey partners Participate in client engagement during bid and pre-construction stages, supporting senior team members Contribute to winning work through accurate estimating, technical input, and professional engagement Support tender monitoring activities and assist with framework and opportunity tracking Work in line with established estimating standards, tools, and pre-construction governance processes

About You:

You are an estimator and designer from a technology, infrastructure, or engineering background who is looking to develop your career within a structured, technically led environment.

You will typically have 3+ years' relevant experience, supported by industry qualifications or demonstrable practical experience, with a desire to progress toward a senior role.

You will have experience in one or more of the following areas:

IT infrastructure Structured cabling (copper and fibre) Low-voltage electrical systems Wireless or cellular technologies
You are commercially aware, keen to learn, and comfortable working within design-and-build or early contractor engagement environments with appropriate support. Exposure to frameworks, Schedule of Rates, or public-sector procurement is advantageous but not essential.

Strong Excel skills are important. Experience with estimating or design tools such as Simpro, Contract Master, AutoCAD Build, BIM, Ekahau/Air Magnet, Trimble, BlueBeam, FieldWire, or similar platforms is beneficial - all training will be provided.
