Location:

Salary:

Start Date:

Industry:

Offsite Fabrication (Industrial & Building Services) working within a multi-disciplined team including a Senior Estimator. (Supporting them and the business)

We will also consider a junior Estimator with a minimum of three years of experience, paying approx 35k plus benefits.

As the Mechanical Estimator to take ownership of mechanical estimating across both projects and workshop workstreams. This is a key commercial role at the front end of the business, directly influencing which work we win, how we price it, and how successfully it is delivered.

This role connects enquiry to execution -- translating drawings, specifications, and client requirements into clear, competitive, and profitable quotations. You will work closely with the Bid Manager, Project Managers, Commercial team, and Workshop Manager to ensure pricing reflects real-world fabrication and site delivery, not theoretical assumptions.

If you are commercially disciplined, technically strong, and take pride in producing accurate, defendable estimates, this role offers real ownership and influence.

The role:

As Mechanical Estimator, you will be responsible for the full estimating lifecycle -- from initial enquiry through to tender submission and project handover. You will ensure scope clarity, margin protection, and commercial control before contracts are signed, reducing delivery risk and supporting predictable project outcomes.

Key responsibilities:

Complete mechanical estimating for projects and workshop work, from enquiry to submission Review drawings, specifications, and site information to develop full scope understanding Prepare accurate take-offs and cost build-ups including labour, materials, plant, subcontractors, logistics, and overheads Engage suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive, compliant pricing Identify and manage risk through clarifications, exclusions, and commercial assumptions Collaborate with the Workshop Manager and Project Managers to ensure estimates reflect real fabrication capacity and site conditions Produce structured, professional tender submissions aligned with company standards Maintain estimating templates, labour rates, material databases, and benchmarks Support post-tender negotiations, value engineering, and client clarifications Lead project handovers with full scope and commercial breakdowns

What success looks like:

Minimal variance between estimated and actual labour/material costs Target margins achieved or exceeded Tenders returned accurately and on time Clear, documented scope, exclusions, and assumptions on every awarded project Strong pipeline visibility and reliable forecasting

Tools & Systems:

Monday.com - tender pipeline and workload tracking EES - labour and material build-ups Excel - pricing and materials databases MS Teams / Outlook - internal and supplier communication PDF / drawing review tools (e.g. Bluebeam)

What we're looking for:

Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator (engineering, fabrication, or construction environment) Strong ability to interpret drawings and specifications Commercially astute with disciplined margin control Confident working independently and owning the estimating process end-to-end Clear communicator who challenges unclear scope rather than absorbing risk Organised, methodical, and comfortable working to deadlines

The Jefferis Way:

No guesswork -- every number must be accurate and defendable Quotes must reflect real fabrication and site delivery capability Margin protection is non-negotiable Scope, exclusions, and assumptions are always documented Professional, structured tender returns -- every time
