A thriving and fast?paced steel fabrication company in North Wales is seeking a skilled
Estimator with a Quantity Surveying background
to join its growing commercial team. This role suits someone who thrives under pressure, enjoys technical problem?solving, and can confidently translate drawings and specifications into accurate, competitive tenders.
Estimating & Tendering
Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for structural steel, secondary steelwork, and bespoke fabrication projects.
Analyse engineering drawings, BIM models, and specifications to determine material, labour, and subcontractor requirements.
Produce tender submissions, bills of quantities, and pricing schedules.
Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations.
Identify value?engineering opportunities and alternative solutions to improve competitiveness.
Commercial & Quantity Surveying Duties
Assist with cost planning, forecasting, and budget control throughout project lifecycles.
Support contract negotiations and review contract terms for commercial risk.
Monitor project costs, variations, and change orders.
Prepare interim valuations, final accounts, and cost reports.
Work closely with project managers to ensure commercial alignment from tender through delivery.
Collaboration & Communication
Work with the design, production, and project teams to ensure estimates reflect practical fabrication and installation methods.
Attend client meetings, site visits, and pre?tender briefings when required.
Build strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
Essential
Background as a
Quantity Surveyor
, Estimator, or similar commercial role.
Experience within
steel fabrication
, structural steel, or construction.
Strong understanding of fabrication processes, materials, and industry standards.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Proficiency with estimating software, Excel, and measurement tools.
Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Desirable
Knowledge of Solid Works,Tekla, StruMIS, or similar industry software.
Experience with NEC or JCT contract forms.
Understanding of CE marking and steelwork compliance requirements.

BSc(Hons) Quantity Surveying
BSc (Hons) Commercial Management
CSCS Black Card (Construction Management/Professionally Qualified)
MRICS Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors
MCIOB Chartered Construction Manager
Package:
Competitive salary based on experience 45,000 - 65,000
