Job Description

AMAT is a charity providing supported accommodation to homeless people in Kent. We are now recruiting for a part-time (17.5 hours per week) Evening Homeless Project Worker to join our busy team!

The focus of this maternity cover position is to ensure the continued smooth running of the project once the day staff have finished their shift. This includes covering the front office reception, answering the phone and dealing with queries from service users and other agencies, carrying out late checks of our properties to ensure that our accommodation is safe and secure, dealing with any incidents with residents as they occur in a professional manner, collecting, sorting and distributing resident post, maintaining the cleanliness of the office and surrounding streets, and potentially dealing with anti-social behaviour.

The hours for this position are 21.00pm - 12.30am five days over seven, working every other weekend. At AMAT, we are focused on delivering the best service we can to our service users, and operate a 24 hours a day, 365 days a year service in order to achieve this. As such, you will be required to work bank holidays (including Christmas day and New Year's Day on a rota basis). Therefore, flexibility is key to this role!

In return, you will receive 33 days annual leave entitlement (increasing after two years service in increments, up to a maximum of 38 days per year), and access to AMAT's Employee Assistance Programme, and workplace pension scheme!

The ideal candidate will be proactive and self-motivated, with a positive and enthusiastic attitude to work. You will also need to have excellent IT skills and communication skills, with the assertiveness to build positive working relationships with our service users, whilst also being able to enforce the rules of our daily licence, and deal with challenging and anti-social behaviour professionally. A full manual driving license is essential to this role due to the location of our properties (Maidstone and Medway locations).

Experience in a similar role would be an advantage, however we do provide a comprehensive training package and welcome applications from those with transferable skills who are passionate about working in a role such as this in this sector!
