About us

Extreme Hangout is a platform to give young changemakers a voice on the environment. We launched the Extreme Hangout at COP26 in Glasgow, took it to COP27 in Egypt, COP28 in Dubai and then COP29 in Azerbaijan. We are now making plans for London Climate Action Week 2025 and COP30 in Brazil alongside a podcast and global event series. Our goal is to help shift the climate dial, by shaking up the climate conversation, popularising the movement and inspiring environmental action. Over the last 4 years we have worked with 1000 speakers, 15000+ visitors, 500,000 watchers, 5m audience and had a press reach of 100m.

About the Internship

Extreme Hangout is seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Events Intern to support the planning and execution of our various events and initiatives. This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly organized individual with a passion for creating engaging experiences and an interest in sustainability to gain hands-on experience in the events industry. This is a part-time, 6-month internship offering up to 30 hours per week, providing valuable practical skills and insights into event management within a purpose-driven organization.

Duration: 6 months

Hours: Part-time, up to 30 hours per week (flexible scheduling may be required based on event needs)

Location: Remote, London (with potential for on-site work)

Learning Opportunities:

This internship offers valuable hands-on experience in: All aspects of event planning and execution. Developing and implementing sustainable event practices. Working within a community-driven organization focused on positive impact. Gaining practical skills in event marketing and promotion. Enhancing communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Networking within the events and sustainability sectors.

What you will be doing:

Assist with the logistical planning and coordination of events. Help with the creation of event timelines, schedules, and checklists. Support the development of event marketing and promotional materials. Act as a point of contact for attendees and volunteers. Assist with administrative tasks such as email correspondence, data entry, and maintaining event records. Support communication with participants, speakers, podcasters, and partners. Help with the creation of event-related documents and presentations. Assist in implementing sustainable practices throughout the event planning and execution process. Help communicate the sustainability aspects of Extreme Hangout events. Support the promotion of events through social media and other channels. Assist with the creation of engaging content for event promotion. Assist with the compilation of post-event reports and evaluations.

Who we are looking for:

Currently has or is pursuing a degree in Event Management, Marketing, Hospitality, or a related field. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional and positive attitude. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in basic computer applications ( Google Workspace). A proactive and enthusiastic approach to learning and taking on new challenges. A genuine interest in sustainability and the mission of Extreme Hangout is a significant plus.

THE INTERNSHIP IS 6 MONTHS LONG WITH A POSIBILITY OF BEING EXTENDED.

THE INTERNSHIP ONLY COVERS BASIC EXPENSES e.g., Internet, cable etc. AND TRAVEL EXPENSES.

SUITABLE FOR PEOPLE WITH AN INTEREST IN EVENT OPERATIONS, ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY, AND SOME KNOWLEDGE IN BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT.
