We're looking for a warm, adaptable, and people-focused
Event Host / Events Coordinator
to bring our Time for Tea and pop-up community events to life.You'll be the welcoming face of Age UK Wakefield at events -- creating safe, fun, and inclusive spaces where people feel comfortable connecting with others.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives on meeting new people, thinking on their feet, and gently supporting group connections -- especially with people who may feel isolated, vulnerable, or unsure about joining in.
Person Specification:

Host and coordinate Time for Teasessions and pop-up community events across Wakefield
Create a welcoming, inclusive, and values-driven environment where everyone feels safe and respected
Adapt activities and approaches to suit different communities, venues, and needs
Engage people from hard-to-reach communities and encourage participation
Facilitate natural conversations and help people connect with one another
Spot opportunities to build trust, confidence, and ongoing group connections
Encourage attendees to get involved as volunteers, peer supporters, or future hosts
Support basic event logistics (set-up, materials, attendance tracking)
Work collaboratively with volunteers, colleagues, and partners
Be alert to safeguarding concerns and respond sensitively and appropriately

Other Responsibilities:
Customer Relations
Positively promote the features and benefits of the Time for Tea and Age UK Wakefield District when interacting with clients, carers, relatives, colleagues and other professionals.
Ensure the highest standard of client care and service are achieved throughout, including the correct reporting of any safeguarding concerns, client health and safety and referral pathways.
Represent AgeUK WD at stakeholder meetings with partner Organisations.
Staff Awareness
Work within the service to ensure compliance with all the Charity's Policies, requirements and procedures.
To ensure compliance with all mandatory training requirements of the organisation and service.
Positively contribute to the reputation of the services being organised, professional and pleasant with clients, carers, families, colleagues and other professionals.
Public Relations
Maintain good relations with clients, carers, families, colleagues and other professionals.
Report any activity that could negatively impact on relationships with patients, carers, families, colleagues and other professionals.
Administration
Maintain absolute confidentiality with regard to patient and Charity information.
As part of the team, work with the service manager to resolve any issues within the service quickly and effectively.
Undertake any other appropriate duties required to realise the full potential of the service.
Personal Duties:
At all times to work in a manner that promotes dignity, respect and independence for older people and the values of Age UKWD.
To work within all Age UKWD's Policies and Procedures.
To be familiar and act within staff responsibilities in line with Age UKWD's Policies and Procedures relating to Abuse and Whistle Blowing.
To engage in regular supervision and annual appraisal and agreeing on suitable objectives and performance standards.
To identify and prioritise personal development needs and agree with the line manager how these should best be met to ensure commercial and personal objectives are achieved.
To be an active and committed member of Age UKWD, taking part in staff meetings, training and Organisational activities.
At such times as required, take on other appropriate responsibilities.

Qualification
GCSE Maths and English Grade C or equivalent
Experience
Experience working in a community, customer-facing, or support-based role
Experience hosting or facilitating groups, activities, or events
Understanding of loneliness, social isolation, and vulnerability
Ability to create safe, welcoming, and inclusive environments
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Confidence encouraging participation and facilitating conversation
Ability to adapt activities and approaches to different settings and needs
Organisational skills including basic event logistics and record-keeping
Ability to work collaboratively with volunteers and colleagues
Awareness of safeguarding and professional boundaries
Warm, approachable, and non-judgemental manner
