The Event Safety Steward plays a vital role in ensuring the safety, security, and comfort of all attendees at public events. Working as part of a team, you will provide crowd management, customer service, and emergency response support to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet and assist event attendees, providing excellent customer service and information.
Monitor crowds and ensure public safety by observing crowd behaviour and identifying potential hazards or incidents.
Control entry and exit points, checking tickets or accreditation as required.
Direct visitors and manage queues in accordance with crowd control plans.
Respond to incidents or emergencies promptly and calmly, following company procedures.
Carry out pre- and post-event safety checks, reporting any issues to supervisors.
Ensure fire exits, access routes, and evacuation procedures are maintained and communicated.
Liaise with emergency services, security teams, and other event staff when necessary.
Wear issued uniform or PPE and present a professional image at all times.
Attend briefings, training sessions, and debriefs as required.
Person Specification:
Essential:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A calm, professional, and alert demeanour
Ability to work as part of a team in a busy and sometimes stressful environment
Reliable and punctual with a responsible attitude
Physically fit and able to stand for long periods
Previous stewarding experience at events, concerts, or sports venues.
Desirable:
Experience in customer service or crowd management
NVQ Level 2 in Spectator Safety or similar (or willingness to work toward)
First Aid training
Working Conditions:
Work may be outdoors in varying weather conditions
Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and public holidays
Requires standing and walking for extended periods
Pay: From 12.21 per hour
