Role Overview
We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Events and Marketing Assistant to support the Wakefield BID Chief Executive in planning, promoting, and delivering key events and marketing campaigns for both Wakefield BID and Ey Up Wakefield. You'll play a key role in engaging Wakefield's business community and increasing footfall in the city centre with innovative and impactful initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the coordination and delivery of Wakefield BID and Ey Up Wakefield events, ensuring smooth execution and professional representation.
Manage and update the Wakefield BID and Ey Up Wakefield websites, ensuring content is current, engaging, and relevant.
Create, schedule, and monitor social media content, responding to enquiries and engaging with businesses and the public.
Assist in the design, production, and distribution of marketing materials such as digital assets, posters, leaflets, and banners.
Work closely with local businesses to encourage participation in campaigns and initiatives that benefit Wakefield city centre.
Coordinate email marketing campaigns to keep business contacts informed about Wakefield BID activities and opportunities.
Assist with securing sponsorships and partnerships to enhance Wakefield BID events.
Attend and support external promotional events, representing Wakefield BID and Ey Up Wakefield at business networking events and public engagement activities.
Support business feedback collection and data analysis to evaluate the impact of Wakefield BID and Ey Up Wakefield initiatives.
Ensure marketing activities align with the Wakefield BID and Ey Up Wakefield brand guidelines and key messaging.
Assist with general administrative duties, including answering enquiries and liaising with suppliers.
Monitor and update city-centre branding assets, including window displays, digital screens, and promotional signage.
Support city-centre engagement initiatives, ensuring businesses are kept informed about upcoming promotions and footfall-driving activities.
Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by Wakefield BID management.
Skills and Experience
Experience in event planning and/or marketing, ideally within the business, tourism, or hospitality sectors.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and work under pressure.
Proficiency in social media management, including scheduling tools and content creation.
Competency with basic software, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Creative approach with attention to detail, contributing fresh ideas to marketing campaigns and event planning.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of Wakefield's business and cultural landscape is desirable but not essential.
