Role Purpose

Station South CIC is moving into an exciting new phase, with a bigger focus on evening events and venue bookings. This role brings together two big parts of what makes Station South special: putting on brilliant events and exhibitions, and telling the story of what's happening here in a clear, welcoming way.

You'll be at the heart of the action - building relationships, bringing people through the doors, and making sure our communities (and future communities) know what's on, how to get involved, and why it matters. It's a hands-on role for someone who loves making things happen, can juggle the practical details, and can also create great content confidently and consistently.

Key Areas of Responsibility

In this role you will:

Shape and run an evening-focused events programme that fits Station South's mission and helps grow income. Look after venue bookings and hire - helping turn enquiries into great events and smooth experiences. Keep our social media and website active, up to date, and genuinely engaging - with strong storytelling across everything we do. Build good relationships with musicians, artists, makers, partners and local communities, and help grow collaborations. Keep the space feeling fresh with a regular rotation of exhibitions and creative activity.

Core Responsibilities

1. Events

Work across teams to build and run a lively, welcoming programme of events at Station South, with a strong focus on evenings and weekends. Take events from first idea to delivery - planning the details, bringing the right people together, and making sure everything runs smoothly on the day/night. Put together plans for events (timings, staffing, suppliers, basic equipment needs, budgets and risk assessments) and make sure everyone involved knows what's happening. Be a friendly, organised point of contact for artists, musicians, promoters and partners - from early conversations through to confirming arrangements and supporting them on the night. Work with the cafe/bar team to make sure events and the evening offer work well together, and to help grow income through ticket sales, venue hire, and bar trade.

2. Venue Bookings and Hires

Look after our evening venue hire bookings - responding to enquiries, showing people round, sending quotes, confirming bookings, and making sure everything is set up for a great experience. Keep our booking information clear and up to date (availability, pricing, what's included, and the basics people need to know before they book). Build relationships with people and organisations who might hire the space, and help turn one-off bookings into repeat events. After each hire/event, gather quick feedback and keep notes on what worked well, so we keep improving.

3. Artist & Exhibition Programme

You will liaise with creatives to secure and schedule a rotation of exhibitions and creative activities (rotating every 6-10 weeks). This involves selection, scheduling, installation liaison (install support available from team) and promotion to ensure exhibitions contribute to the Station South atmosphere and community engagement.

3. Communications & Digital Channels

You'll help people understand what Station South is all about and make it easy for them to get involved. You'll look after our content across social media and the website, making sure it reflects everything we do (events, venue hire, Bike Station, community cycling, Greenhub, and the cafe/bar)

This includes:

Owning a realistic content calendar so we're consistent Creating, coordinating and posting engaging content - posts, stories, reels, event listings, blogs/news updates, and website updates with a friendly, clear tone of voice. Gathering content day-to-day from across the team (photos, short videos, quotes, behind-the-scenes moments) and encouraging the community to share moments we can re-post. Making campaign assets like digital flyers, posters and event graphics, and coordinating extra design support when we need it. Keeping the essentials up to date: "What's on", event pages, booking information, and clear calls-to-action so people can book, buy tickets, or get in touch easily. Paying attention to what works - using basic insights like reach, engagement, clicks and ticket/booking signals and adjusting what we post accordingly.

4. Community & Collaboration

A big part of this role is helping people feel connected to Station South - online and in the building. You'll make it easy for our communities, partners and participants to share what they're up to, and you'll help the team tell the story of everything happening across the organisation.

Encourage and grow community-led content - inviting partners, artists, workshop participants, cyclists and customers to share their experiences (and making it easy for us to re-share with permission). Build engagement through collaborations, takeovers, featured community stories, partner cross-promotion and stakeholder relationships. Keep our tone of voice warm, inclusive, fun and consistent, so people recognise Station South wherever they find us. Work across the organisation to surface stories and promote what's happening - including the Bike Station, Community Cycling, Greenhub/growing/sustainability/ecology and the cafe/bar. Help keep the team aligned by sharing key info internally (what's coming up, what to promote, what to photograph/film, and any messages to share). Play your part in keeping Station South a safe, welcoming, positive space for everyone who comes through the doors.

5. Admin, compliance and good practice

Keep clear, accurate records for events and bookings - including budgets, invoices, booking details, artist agreements, basic contracts, and event risk assessments where needed. Follow our policies and good practice, including safeguarding and data protection/GDPR for mailing lists and contact details. Work in line with Station South CIC values and help create an inclusive, supportive culture across the team

A smooth, organised venue hire process, with more enquiries turning into confirmed bookings (and repeat hires over time). Strong, regular social media and website updates that reflect everything we do and make it easy for people to find what's on and how to book. Growing engagement (more comments, shares, saves, messages and user content), not just more posts. A steady rotation of exhibitions and creative activity in the space, supported by good relationships with artists and musicians.
