Job Purpose
The Events Business Development Officer will play a pivotal role in driving Darbar's mission forward by developing and managing strategic fundraising initiatives, donor relationships, and income generation programmes. This position combines event management, business development, and fundraising expertise to support emerging Indian classical musicians through the Darbar Gifted and Talented programme whilst building sustainable revenue streams for the organisation.
Key ResponsibilitiesDarbar Gifted and Talented + Event Management
Lead the delivery and strategic development of the Darbar Gifted and Talented programme to support gifted and talented emerging Indian classical musicians in the UK and internationally
Design and deliver high-quality donor engagement events, including intimate concerts, masterclasses, and exclusive experiences for donor membership through the Darbar Platinum Donor Club
Develop compelling cases for support that communicate the impact of donor contributions on emerging musicians and the wider Indian classical music ecosystem
Cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors, ensuring exceptional donor care and retention
Income Generation & CRM Development
Establish and implement a comprehensive CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system to manage donor data, track engagement, and analyse giving patterns
Develop and execute a donor acquisition and retention strategy to create a strong and sustainable income stream from individual giving
Identify and cultivate major donor prospects through research, relationship building, and strategic engagement
Implement data-driven approaches to donor segmentation, personalised communications, and fundraising appeals
Corporate Partnerships & Sponsorship
Research and identify corporate organisations with alignment to Darbar's mission and values
Develop and pitch compelling sponsorship packages for the Darbar Festival, covering core operational costs including artist fees, flights, accommodation, and transport
Build and maintain strategic partnerships with corporate supporters, ensuring mutual value and strong long-term relationships
Negotiate sponsorship agreements and manage delivery of benefits packages
Develop innovative corporate engagement opportunities that showcase Darbar's work and cultural impact
Trusts & Foundations Fundraising
Research and identify trusts and foundations whose funding priorities align with supporting emerging artists and cultural diversity
Develop high-quality funding applications and proposals that articulate the impact on gifted and talented emerging Indian classical musicians
Manage the full lifecycle of trust and foundation relationships, from prospecting to reporting
Maintain a pipeline of funding opportunities and ensure timely submission of applications
Prepare compelling impact reports demonstrating outcomes achieved through grant funding
Strategic Planning & Collaboration
Contribute to Darbar's overall development strategy and annual business planning
Work collaboratively with the artistic, marketing, and operations teams to ensure integrated delivery of programmes and events
Monitor and report on fundraising performance against targets, providing regular updates to senior management and trustees
Act as an ambassador for Darbar, representing the organisation at networking events, sector gatherings, and with stakeholders
Stay informed about best practices in arts fundraising, donor engagement, and income generation
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: 35,000.00-42,000.00 per year
